Apologies for being late to the party on this one; I was playing in a hockey game. As I mentioned early, the Stars did decide to pll up a player from Texas to replace the injured Brenden Morrow and questionable Jere Lehtinen in the lineup for tomorrow's game against Minnesota. My favorite part of this entire release is their inclusion of the birthday goal fact. Only question is who will cook dinner for Matt Climie while Ray is in Dallas?!
The Dallas Stars announced today that the NHL club has activated defenseman Nicklas Grossman from injured reserve. The team also announced that right wing Ray Sawada has been recalled from the Texas Stars, Dallas primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Grossman, 24, was placed on injured reserve with a lower body injury on January 9. He suffered the injury on January 6 at the New York Rangers. Grossman has appeared in 41 games for Dallas this season, scoring four assists with a +5 rating. The Stockholm, Sweden native is in his third season in the NHL, having played all 192 games with the Stars. He was Dallas’ second round selection (56th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
Sawada, 24, has appeared in 30 games for Texas this season, scoring two goals and five assists for seven points with 39 penalty minutes. He was Dallas’ second round selection (52nd overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. Sawada appeared in five NHL games last season, including scoring a goal in his league debut on Feb. 19, 2009 vs. Edmonton on his 24th birthday.
Dallas will host the Minnesota Wild on Monday night (7:00 pm, VERSUS, Sports Radio 1310 The Ticket).
