Brennan Evans, Rivermen Crush Stars 5-2

After scoring just 9 goals in his entire 8 season AHL career, Brennan Evans had a breakout night against the Texas Stars in Peoria tonight. Evans scored his first, second and third goals of the year for his first career hat trick. Really, a defenseman who was without a goal in 48 games scoring a hat trick told the story of the night.

Peoria started off the scoring in this one with Brennan Evans' first goal of the night, coming on a point shot with traffic in front. Texas answered back with five left in the first period on the power play. Roman's 7th goal of the year evened the score at one with Gagnon and Segal getting assists.

From there on out, it was all Peoria. Porter scored one on the Rivermen power play to make it 2-1 to end the first. Shots were 18-15 for Peoria after 20 minutes.

The second period broke the camel's back as Brennan Evans had two in the period. Evans second goal came as his penalty for interference expired and he went in alone on Bachman. Ian Cole scored as well in the period to set the score at 5-1 after 40 minutes.

Stars defenseman Maxime Fortunus would score the only goal of the 3rd period for either team, setting it at a 5-2 final. Texas will try to shake off this loss and play another 3-in-3 this weekend, ending in Cedar Park on Sunday.

  1. That gamesheet is correct, 3 shots for 3 goals in the second period? Yikes.
