Stars Release Clear Day Roster

The Texas Stars released their Clear Day roster today. For the most part, the roster was as expected. There were two notable exclusions. First, in the goaltender category, Texas did not name Brent Krahn to the Clear Day. This likely spells the end of his career with the Dallas organization. Tyler Beskorowany looks like he will spend the remainder of the year in Texas.

Also, Scott McCulloch was left off the roster at the forward position. After starting the year on fire, he suffered a series of lower body injuries that forced him to miss over half the season. Barring callups, which Texas currently has one of in Tomas Vincour, McCulloch will not be eligible to play for the rest of the year.

UPDATE: "No comment" from Texas Stars GM Scott White on either players' absence from the Clear Day roster.

Here's the release:
The Texas Stars of the American Hockey League announced on Tuesday the 2010-11 Clear Day Roster, which consists of 20 skaters and two goaltenders.

According to AHL by-laws, only the players listed on a team’s Clear Day Roster are eligible to compete in the remainder of the AHL regular season and in the 2011 Calder Cup Playoffs, unless emergency conditions arise as a result of injury, recall or suspension. Teams may also add signed junior players or players on amateur tryout contracts after Clear Day, but only once their respective junior or college seasons are complete.

The Stars Clear Day Roster consists of 13 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders.

Goaltenders: Richard Bachman, Tyler Beskorowany

Defensemen: Jordie Benn, Maxime Fortunus, Philip Larsen, Trevor Ludwig, Brad Lukowich, Dan Spang, Matt Stephenson

Forwards: Sean Backman, Cody Chupp, Aaron Gagnon, Luke Gazdic, Travis Morin, Greg Rallo, Ondrej Roman, Raymond Sawada, Colton Sceviour, Brandon Segal, Mathieu Tousignant, Tomas Vincour, Francis Wathier

  1. I'm a little confused, does the fact that Vincour is up in Dalls allow McCulloch to keep playing? If so, is that the reason Vincour is on the roster, just in case he comes back down when Richards is back healhty?

  3. Cool, thanks for the quick response. As much as I enjoyed watching Vincour down here, I am incredibly happy to see him doing so well in Dallas. Go Stars!!
