Stars Release Dave Bonk

Texas announced today that it has released Dave Bonk from his PTO. Hopes are that this release presages the return of Travis Morin back to the lineup. Bonk will return to the CHL's Allen Americans.

Here's the release:
The Texas Stars announced on Wednesday that the club has released center Dave Bonk from a PTO (professional tryout agreement).

Bonk played in 11 games with Texas, scoring twice and setting up one other for three points with the Stars. The 28-year old center had played the majority of the season with the CHL’s Allen Americans. In 33 games with the Americans, Bonk scored 15 goals and added 29 assists for 44 points. The 188-pound center also appeared in six games with the AHL’s Oklahoma City Barons earlier this year, posting one assist and four penalty minutes.

  1. Hey buddy just to follow up with the Syracuse story. Anaheim has given them the short end of the stick in more ways than one...check out the crunch hockey blog again. ANA ets jason jaffray he is injured finally comes back and they send him to MTB??????...where he played for years cause they are playoff bound then they trade for sniper Perrault and decide to Leave him in MTB for quote playoff experiece. SYR owner Dolgon released a terse statement today and if yu read in between the lines he isnt happy to say te least. Check Kramers blog stories for more details but according to sources the CT owner is behind some payments and SYR might side with NYR sooner rather than later...hmmm talk about an affiliate gettinh shafted by its parent...thoughts?

  2. Yea, I read Dolgon's released statement today. While I understand that Syracuse is not going to make the playoffs, I also understand that there should be a give and take in the relationship. Anaheim needs to commit to helping Syracuse have a solid team. I can't remember what the agreement length is between the two, but if this keeps up, it won't be extended.

  3. yeah I dont remember either...Dolgon is a great stand up owner who really loves his team and wants it to succeed but when youre gettin shortchanged your hands are tied and I think ANA came in with pomp and circumstance but after underdeveloped talemnt and no veteran goaltending SYR has been a disaster this year...When SYR was affiliated with CBJ they were ok at times and like this at times and we couldnt take it anymore and dumped em. The breaking straw was Nikita Filatov was NHL takent playing in Syracuse and the crunch went from 14 pts-3pts out of a playoff spot in just 3 weeks and CBJ called him up with 5 games to go for "playoff atmosphere" and he never played a minute and SYR missed the playoffs by 5 pts. This sounds like this except for the playoffs are out of the question
