Texas Stars Report: Half and Half in Winnipeg

The Texas Stars Report on Defending Big D...
The Texas Stars (36-24-4-6, 82 pts, #3 West) finished out their Canadian road trip with two game against the Winnipeg Jets Manitoba Moose (Vancouver Canucks). Texas played two one-sided games against Manitoba and luckily one went the Stars' way. Texas lost 4-3 on Friday against the Moose but bombed them out 5-1 on Sunday afternoon. Stars forward Greg Rallo scored Texas's first hat trick of the season in Sunday's game.

With the win, Texas grasped the firmest hold they've had on a playoff spot for a while. Currently third overall in both points and points percentage, the Stars are just one point ahead of three teams in the West but have one game in hand over all of them. Peoria, Oklahoma City, and Chicago all have 81 points through 71 games, considerably clogging up the playoff picture. At this point, it looks like the Milwaukee Admirals (Nashville Predators) and the Houston Aeros (Minnesota Wild) are going to the post season. Texas is the next one in, if they can keep winning.

Houston comes to town on Tuesday and then the Grand Rapids Griffins on Friday and Saturday. Texas has struggled with the Aeros this year but the Griffins are a good chance for four solid points.
