Texas Stars Release Six Tryout Players

In an expected move, the Stars have announced today that they released six players from their professional tryouts after the close of the preseason schedule. Defensemen Tyler Elbrecht and Ryan Hegarty and forwards Spencer Bennett, Justin Mercier, Anthony Nigro and William Rapuzzi were the release players.

Notably, Taylor Vause is the only tryout player remaining with the Stars. Anthony Nigro, William Rapuzzi and Tyler Elbrecht will report to Idaho for training camp. Spencer Bennett will report to Alaska, and Ryan Hegarty will head to Greenville. Justin Mercier does not have a contract elsewhere.

The Texas Stars, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the Dallas Stars, announced today that the club has released six players from their training camp roster.

The Texas Stars have released the following six players from their training camp tryout contracts: defensemen Tyler Elbrecht and Ryan Hegarty and forwards Spencer Bennett, Justin Mercier, Anthony Nigro and William Rapuzzi.

Texas' training camp roster now stands at 27 players, including four goaltenders, nine defensemen and 14 forwards.

  1. Maybe Vause grabs a spot while Glennie is assigned to Dallas until he is cleared to play and sent down after his injury. At least Vause acts like he wants to play unlike that softie Glennie.
