Gameday Preview: Stars v. Grand Rapids Griffins

#1 Western Conference
v.Grand Rapids Griffins
27-12-1-2, 57 pts
#2 Western Conference
January 25th at 7:00 PM
Cedar Park Center, Cedar Park, TX

Same two teams and the same thing is on the line as last night: first place in the conference. If Grand Rapids wins, they will retake the top spot by virtue of games played. Of course, if Texas wins, they solidify the lead they have and put a four or three point cushion between themselves and Grand Rapids, despite the Griffins' game in hand.

One thing to watch tonight will be the addition of Dustin Jeffrey to the lineup for Texas. He was assigned yesterday and is eligible to play in the AHL for the duration of the Olympic break. He is just under a point-per-game player in the AHL and qualifies as a veteran. That may not matter as much tonight with Toby Petersen out of the lineup, but the decision may have to be made to scratch Petersen and Wathier in the future if all are healthy.

After Robinson had to face 42 shots last night, it is possible if not likely that Desjardins goes with Pat Nagle in net. It would be his first regular season game action for Texas. He did play in the AHL last season with Syracuse. He actually backed up for the Crunch in their Calder Cup final loss to Grand Rapids.

Stars injury/call up report:
Nemeth, Campbell, Ritchie, Jokipakka, Vause, Nilstorp (injury)
McKenzie, Petersen (questionable)

  1. Taylor Peters left last night early too. Any word on him? Also is Vause still injured as he did play the second game in Charlotte last weekend. Bill

  2. It sure looks like the Luke Gazdic loss is becoming larger now. We don't have anyone who can be an enforcer now, and take action after things happen like last night to Dowling. Wrenn tried to, but that didn't work out very well. I hope the league got to see the replay of that hit.
