Dallas went into the third period up 3-1 but ended up losing to the Calgary Flames in the shootout. As to the Texas Stars in the game, Colton Sceviour and Travis Morin were paired with Erik Cole. That line combined for a goal off the stick of Cole. The initial shot came from former Texas Stars Brenden Dillon. Travis Morin collected his first NHL point on the second assist, doing some gritty work on the boards to free the puck over to Dillon.

"I thought [Mueller and Morin] gave us a good consistent effort," said Coach Lindy Ruff. "Obviously we're a little thin up the middle of the ice. I thought both gave us a good effort."

Erik Cole, asked about his line specifically with Morin and Sceviour, added, "We were pretty good. I think that getting back to the bench and communicating about where to put pucks and where to look for those pucks helped. I thought it was definitely good. We created a lot. I thought we had some good opportunities."

Colton Sceviour went second in the shootout for Dallas, in between Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin. Sceviour was denied on his usual forehand-backhand attempt.

All three may stay in the lineup for some time in Dallas as Shawn Horcoff is going to "take some time" to recover and Cody Eakin is day-to-day. For Eakin, it's a question of whether he feels comfortable with a skate on his foot, according to Coach Ruff, which indicates a foot issue. The Stars head off to Winnipeg tomorrow and would definitely want to insurance of a 13th forward in case Eakin can't go on Sunday against the Jets.
