Brett Ritchie Named CCM/AHL Player of the Week

A dominating week from Brett Ritchie has earned the Texas Stars forward CCM/AHL Player of the Week honors. It is the first such award for the forward and the first of the year for any Texas Star.

Ritchie scored his second pro hat trick on Saturday and followed it up with two more goals on Sunday for a total of five. He finished Saturday's game with a blistering 10 shots. He was plus-7 on the weekend overall.

It's a huge bit of good news for a Stars club that has been working to make a big comeback in the standings. If the Stars are to make the playoffs, it's a guarantee that Ritchie needs to be a big part of it.

  1. Nice job by Richie. Good to see one of those who should be progressing doing so. I have to admit I didn't see Smith as the guy to grasp a big role, hope he keeps it up though, seemed like a good kid when I talked to him at the meet and greet.

  2. He's due for a bigger year than last. I hope Dallas lets him develop here without too many major stints in the NHL this season, both for the sake of the Texas Stars and for his development.

Smith needs a nickname for coming up big time on short notice!
