The American Hockey League announced this afternoon that Texas Stars Maxime Fortunus and Travis Morin would represent the reigning Calder Cup champions at the annual AHL All-Star classic this month in Utica. Morin and Fortunus are the only two players from Texas' inaugural season to still be on the team.

For Morin, it is his third time being selected for the honor. If he is on the AHL roster for the game, it will be his second time playing. In 2011, Morin was selected but did not play because he was in Dallas at the time. Morin hasn't suited up for Texas in almost a month but is still their leading scorer with 24 points. He's just over a point per game player this season and is the reigning MVP to boot.

Maxime Fortunus was previously named to the roster as the captain of the Western Conference All-Stars. The selection of captains is made by the league president to honor those who have made significant contributions to the league over many years. Fortunus fits the bill perfectly as a player who is a steady veteran force for a perennially strong team.

The AHL All-Star Classic will be played in Utica on January 26th. In the past, the game has been televised regionally in the Austin area on FOX Sports Southwest or FSSW Plus. Those details are still forthcoming.
