The final game of the regular season for both of these teams is ultimately meaningless for playoff standings. Texas is locked into 5th and San Antonio 3rd. They won't play each other in the first round, but could faceoff in later rounds if they both make it through.
Last night, Coach Laxdal scratched a handful of players to get them some rest ahead of the playoffs. Travis Morin, Maxime Fortunus, Derek Hulak and Jack Campbell all got the night off. With everything in order for seeding, it might make some sense to have some of the same veterans out of the lineup for Texas. However, I get the feeling 'fan appreciation night' will include their captain, leading scorer and recent-savior goalie.
