Every Thursday, 100 Degree Hockey will name the Lone Star Grille/100 Degree Hockey Player of the Week. Lone Star Grille features classic comfort food and Southern dishes less than five minutes from the Cedar Park Center. If you mention the Player of the Week or 100 Degree Hockey on your next visit to Lone Star Grille, your server will take $5 off your order of any two entrees.

Dallas's top draft pick from 2013 was bound to have a breakout game in Cedar Park. His excellent effort last night against Adirondack vaulted him into Player of the Week consideration and ultimately earned him the nod. Nichushkin, who had been held scoreless on this stint until last night, tallied three assists in a Texas victory.

"I feel good," said Nichushkin postgame. "My legs are good. I need a little more time maybe. I hope coach gives me a chance to play the next game in Dallas."

The Russian is now back in Dallas and is slated to play one of the Stars' two games this weekend against St, Louis and Nashville. Both are stiff competition for a player who hasn't skated in an NHL game in five months. This final game tune-up with offensive output Nichushkin was able to provide can give Dallas some confidence he's ready.

  1. He was fun to watch. I can't recall a game that not only one, but three players recently assigned to Texas played like the deserved to be in the NHL instead of mailing it in. Richie, Mckenzie and Nichushkin all played like they cared. I love what that says to the rest of the team.
