Honka and Ritchie Help Texas Polish Off Weekend with Road Win

After allowing the first goal, the Stars stormed back and played an excellent game in San Antonio for a 3-2 win. Julius Honka scored the game-winner in the third and Brett Ritchie added his fourth of the season. For the second night in a row, the Stars had three fights: Brennan Evans once and Curtis McKenzie twice.

Julius Honka's third period goal held up as the difference on Sunday in a 3-2 road win for the Texas Stars over the rival San Antonio Rampage in front of 5,792 at AT&T Center.

Honka's game-winner came at 7:26 of the third from the right circle. Brett Ritchie and Justin Dowling also scored for the Stars (14-10-2-1). John Muse made Honka's third period goal hold up with a 14-save third period, and finished with 31 saves in the game for his seventh win of the year.

Texas hits the road on Thursday to visit the Chicago Wolves at 11 a.m. CST.

In the first, the Rampage (11-8-6-0) opened up the game's scoring off a Chris Bigras goal 3:58 into the first. Ritchie knotted the score less than four minutes later off a centering feed from Derek Hulak for his fourth goal in the last two games.

Both teams traded goals again in the second as Dowling made it a 2-1 score with the Stars' fourth shorthanded goal of the season at 9:01. The Rampage answered right back with just over two minutes left in the frame however, when Cody Corbett blasted a point shot past Muse for his first of the year.

Calvin Pickard suffered the loss for the Rampage with 33 saves. Texas finished 0-for-2 on the power play. San Antonio went 1-for-5.

It was San Antonio's fifth consecutive loss to start the month of December.
