Justin Dowling is headed to the NHL on his first NHL recall. It's a great story for the forward, who was undrafted and came to the organization during the lockout.

Separately, Texas has recalled Caleb Herbert and signed Travis Ewanyk to a PTO to bolster their ailing forward corps.

Here's the release:
Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced today that the team has recalled forward Justin Dowling from the Texas Stars, Dallas' top development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Dowling, 26, currently shares second in the AHL and leads the Texas Stars with eight points (2-6=8) in five games this season. The forward also ranks second in the League and paces Texas with six assists, while his four power play points (0-4=4) are tied for third in the AHL. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound native of Cochrane, Alta. was undrafted and signed with Dallas as a free agent on March 26, 2014

The team also announced today that it has placed forward Ales Hemsky on injured reserve, retroactive to the game on Oct. 22 against Columbus. Hemsky has appeared in one game this season, posting one shot on goal in 15:32 of ice time.
