Texas Stars Announce Opening Training Camp Roster

The Texas Stars announced their starting camp roster for tomorrow's first on-ice sessions. The team is mostly made up of players assigned from Dallas. The remainder is mostly players signed in Idaho. The only exception is Colin Jacobs, who is signed with the Atlanta Gladiators of the ECHL.

Forwards: Joe Basaraba, Brandon DeFazio, Austin Fyten, Caleb Herbert, Colin Jacobs, Kellen Lain, Rob Linsmayer, Anthony Luciani, Mike McMurtry, Will Merchant, Brendan Ranford, Branden Troock and Bryce Van Brabant

Defense:
Brandon Anselmini, Zach Bell, Andrew Bodnarchuk*, Ludwig Bystrom, Charlie Dodero, Nick Ebert and Dustin Stevenson*

Goalies:
Landon Bow and Philippe Desrosiers

* - Bodnarchuk and Stevenson must clear waivers.

The team did physicals and headshots and such today with on-ice sessions starting tomorrow. More players will be assigned over the coming two weeks as cuts are made in Dallas. The roster in Texas may run lean, however, as players return to health in Dallas before opening night. With players like Devin Shore and Tyler Seguin on the mend and Jamie Benn taking it easy to get into the season, there may be a legitimate battle in Cedar Park for forward roles in the AHL among those ECHL guys.

The chances are there. Time to grab them.
