Denis Gurianov Scoops and Scores for OT Win in San Antonio

Texas needed overtime to do it, but they managed two points against San Antonio to close their road trip with a 4-3 victory. They close the road trip with 4 of 8 points but ceding five to their divisional opponents Tucson and San Antonio. Denis Gurianov was the top star for Texas, earning his fifth goal of the year completely unassisted just 9 seconds into overtime. He stole the puck from Chris Bigras and walked in unabated for the tally.

The two teams seesawed back and forth with neither leading by more than a goal at any time. San Antonio went first only to be answered by a pair from Matej Stransky, his 14th and 15th of the year. He had four goals ont he road trip. With 15 goals and 11 assists, he is on pace for his best scoring season of his pro career.

San Antonio answered back with a pair in the second. Mattias Backman tied the game at 3 late in the period on a five-hole goal from the point. There would be no scoring in the third, setting up Gurianov's OT glory.

The Stars went back to Landon Bow in net, who stopped 21 of 24 in the win. The heavy schedule for Texas continues in Cedar Park on Wednesday against the Manitoba Moose.
