Vishnevskiy in the All-Star Skills Competition; Sawada in Dallas

The Canadian All-Stars and PlanetUSA All-Stars faced off last night in the AHL All-Star Skills Competition. The Canadians prevailed, but our own Ivan Vishnevskiy was among the bright spots for the PlanetUSA team.

Vish had the second hardest shot on the hardest shot competition at 96.3 mph. He was, at the time, the leader, but Blair Jones of Norfolk crushed it with a 100.7 mph shot. Vish's team scored once and was denied once on the pass and score drill. And finally, Vishnevskiy shot twice on the breakaway relay, beating Justin Peters both times. Peters was Stars goalie Brent Krahn's injury replacement, which means Vish might have been shooting on Krahn if not for injury. That would have been fun.

Finally, Ray Sawada suited up for last night's game against the Wild. He skated on a line with Brian Sutherby and Jamie Benn. Overall, he only took 12 shifts for 7:25 of ice time. He had one shot and was a -1 in the game, as he was on ice for the Wild's second goal by Miettinen. Haven't heard too much on Lehtinen and Morrow's injury prognosis so I don't know when Ray will rejoin Texas. He looked good out there though. I'll keep you posted.
