Bachman to Idaho, Ford re-signed

Richard Bachman was assigned to Idaho today after a 5 game stint in Austin. He started four games and was 2-2-0 with his first AHL shutout. Additionally, Ford's PTO expired and Texas has re-upped him for another 25 games. Here's the release.

The Texas Stars announced on Wednesday that goalie Richard Bachman has been assigned to the Idaho Steelheads, Texas’ ECHL Affiliate. Texas also announced that goalie Todd Ford has been re-signed to a 25-game PTO (professional tryout agreement).

Bachman has played in six games for the Stars this season, recording a 2.07 goals against average and a .927 save percentage. The rookie netminder leaves Texas with a 3-3-0 record. During his latest recall, Bachman recorded his first career AHL shutout with 17 saves in a 5-0 win at Hamilton on Feb. 16. Bachman returns to Idaho, where he was 14-5-3 with a 2.31 goals against average and a .909 save percentage.

The 22-year old was drafted by the Dallas Stars in the fourth round (#120 overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. Bachman played the previous two seasons with Colorado College, posting a 39-20-11 record with a 2.24 goals against average and a .922 save percentage. In two NCAA seasons, he posted seven shutouts.

Ford was re-signed after his previous 25-game PTO expired. The 25-year old has appeared in 11 games for Texas this season, posting 4-5-1 record with a 2.68 goals against average, a .913 save percentage and two shutouts. Prior to signing with the Stars in late December, the Calgary, AB native played in 24 games for the ECHL’s South Carolina Stingrays, posting a 16-6-1 mark with a 2.88 goals against average, a .910 save percentage and one shutout.

  1. Not sure that's the decision I would have made. I'm more in the "keep the hot goalie, send the cold goalie home" camp. Though I suppose in this case it's more "keep the lukewarm goalie..."
