Dallas G Alex Auld placed on waivers, could join Texas

Multiple sources report that Dallas Stars backup goalie Alex Auld has been placed on waivers by the club. It is expected now that Marty Turco will be staying with Dallas through the end of the season with Kari Lehtonen backing him up. This means we could see Auld in Texas for the Stars if the right sequence of events happens.

The Forth Worth Star-Telegram's five for fighting has a good explanation of what would need to happen to see "tall, bald Alex Auld" in Austin, Texas:
"Auld, who makes $1 million this season, will go through waivers. If he is not picked up, he will be sent through recall waivers and [other NHL] teams will get a shot at him for half his remaining salary. If no team picks him up, he will be assigned to the Texas Stars. It is not expected that he will return to practice with the [Dallas] unless there is an injury."
Auld is 9-6-3 in 21 games played with a 3.00 GAA and a .894 SV%. Auld has played 150 AHL games, all but two of them for the Manitoba Moose. He has played 204 games in the NHL and started 186 of them. Career in the NHL, he has a 83-81-2-26 record (W-L-T-OTL) with a 2.78 GAA and .904 SV%.

  1. Looks like Auld cleared today and has been assigned, I can't wait to see him in Cedar Park, always glad to have another Bruin alumni on the team. I wonder what's going to happen now when Climie and Krahn are both healthy though.
