Travis Morin Recalled to Dallas; Texas Practices in Frisco

After the day the Texas Stars had yesterday travelling, they decided to practice today at the Dallas Stars' facility in Frisco. The team departed Grand Rapids en route to OKC but had their flight diverted and then cancelled, ending up in Dallas.

At least one will be staying as Travis Morin has been recalled by the Stars. Tyler Seguin is out with 'concussion-like symptoms'. Seguin will travel on the Dallas road trip but may be held out tomorrow against Chicago. Morin slides is as Aaron Rome moves to IR, keeping the team under the roster limit.

The Texas Stars, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the Dallas Stars, announced today that Dallas has recalled center Travis Morin from loan with Texas and has placed defenseman Aaron Rome on injured reserve, retroactive to the lower body injury he suffered on Nov. 24.

Morin, 29, leads the AHL with 29 points (11 goals, 18 assists) in 19 games with Texas. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound forward from Brooklyn Park, Minnesota has skated in three games for Dallas this season, posting two shots and a plus-1 rating for the NHL club. Originally drafted by Washington in the ninth round (263rd overall) of the 2004 NHL Draft, Morin was signed by Dallas as a free agent on July 12, 2010.

Rome, 30, is in his second season with Dallas, posting five assists and 18 penalty minutes in 27 career games with the Stars. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound defenseman from Nesbitt, Man., was Los Angeles' fourth-round selection (104th overall) in the 2002 NHL Draft and was signed by Dallas as a free agent on July 1, 2012. Rome has appeared in eight AHL games for Texas this season, recording one assist, eight penalty minutes and a +1 rating.
