If you'd said three weeks ago that Jack Campbell would be the Stars' player of the week, I'm not sure I would have beleived you. Campbell came into this weekend's games with a 3-11-5 record, 3.47 GAA and .888 SV%. Not exactly All-Star calibre.
However, on Sunday, Jack picked up his first AHL win since December with a solid 36 save performance against a tough Milwaukee team. What really earned him the honor was Tuesday night's effort against Lake Erie.
With Jussi Rynnas injured, Campbell stepped into a 1-1 game and took the Stars to a shootout win with 35 saves on 36 shots and 4 of four in the shootout. He played confidently, He played aggressively. Campbell was Campbell, prototypically. He collected wins in back-to-back games for the first time since April 2013. In the two games, he had a .959 SV%.
With the confidence boost, Campbell now looks to hit the road tonight in Chicago as 'the man' in net.
