Quiet Day for Texas Sees Only Expected Transactions for Nemeth, Ritchie, McKenzie

Trade deadline day was pretty quiet for much of the NHL, and the Texas Stars were no exception.

The Stars only saw three transactions on the day. Patrik Nemeth was recalled to Dallas, as expected, after completing a five game stint with Texas to rehab his arm injury.

Curtis McKenzie and Brett Ritchie were both assigned to Texas and then immediately recalled after the deadline. This move makes them playoff eligible for Texas. Neither Jyrki Jokipakka nor John Klingberg were sent down today. This means the two defensemen are inelible for the AHL playoffs.

  1. I don't see why Jokipakka wasn't sent down. Actually you can make a argument for Klingberg too (Playoff experience).

    1. My guess is they wanted to save the final non-emergency callup in case they needed it in the final 6 weeks of the season. Would have loved to have them both down here for the playoffs!
