Each week, we name the Lone Star Grille/100 Degree Hockey Player of the Week. Lone Star Grille offers happy hour weekdays from 4-7 PM just minutes from the Cedar Park Center. The new Higher Ground Bar at the Grille is a smoke-free bar open 6 PM to 2 AM Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Redeem your game ticket for reverse happy hour from 10-12 PM with $2 off specialty cocktails, $4.00 house wine and $2.50 domestic longnecks.

Just two games on the slate this past week for Texas and Curtis McKenzie was the player who distinguished himself. The best evidence of that is his recall to Dallas yesterday and the fact he will play tonight in Colorado, according to Coach Ruff. The left winger notched two goals and two assists in just two games in North Carolina this past weekend.

McKenzie has had an interesting year. After many slated him for the big club at the start of the year, he found himself with the Texas Stars with much thanks to the emergence of Mattias Janmark. Now he needs to play a solid game tonight, wreck it in the playoffs and have an excellent summer to prove that he deserves a spot with the big club.

Such is life in sports though. Nothing is handed to you.
