A few news and notes today as the Stars take on Manitoba this evening. First, the league announced today that Matej Stransky will be taking the place of Julius Honka on the All-Star roster. Honka, who is currently in Dallas, has been marked as unavailable for the game. It is the first All-Star nod for the vet Czech forward. Former Star Jack Campbell also was named as a replacement player for the Pacific Division today.
Second, Ethan Werek was signed to an AHL standard contract this afternoon. He had been playing on a professional tryout to this point, which only lasts 25 games. The contract is a solid endorsement of what he's been able to do for the Stars this season, chipping in 3-5=8 in 18 games of mostly bottom six minutes.
