Playing time is king, it seems. Julius Honka looks to have slipped down the depth chart a bit for the Dallas Stars and the team has chosen to have him playing in the AHL rather than sitting in the NHL. He will be available Thursday in California.

Here's the release:
Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced today that the club has loaned defenseman Julius Honka to the Texas Stars, Dallas' top development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Honka, 21, has appeared in six games with the Stars during the 2017-18 season, recording six shots on goal, three hits and five blocked shots while averaging 14:58 time on ice per game. Honka split the 2016-17 season between Dallas and Texas (AHL), posting five points (1-4=5) in 16 NHL contests and adding 31 points (7-24=31) in 50 AHL contests with Texas.

The 5-foot-11, 186-pound native of Jyvaskyla, Finland was originally selected by Dallas in the first round (14th overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft.
