Denis Gurianov Named to AHL All-Star Game

The AHL announced this afternoon that forward Denis Gurianov will represent the Texas Stars at the All-Star Game in Springfield, Massachusetts, later this month. Gurianov is better than a point per game player this year for Texas (28 pts in 23 games) and was just reassigned to the AHL from his latest stint in Dallas.

It's a well-worn story at this point, but the turnaround for Gurianov to go from a healthy scratch in the Calder Cup Final to an All-Star the following season is remarkable. The selection is Gurianov's first.

AHL players, of course, may not always be available for the game as they bounce up and down to the NHL. This may be the case for Gurianov, but time will tell. Erik Condra, Justin Dowling and Joel L'Esperance all sit ahead of Gurianov in points on the Stars and could be great replacement players should Gurianov, or another Central Division player, be unavailable for the game.
