Head coach Derek Laxdal recently talked about how tired the team was following in the midst of and following a fruitless road trip in which they dropped five straight. Fatigue was bound to set in at some point, seeing that the Stars played seven games in the span of only eleven days. That's exhausting no matter how young and athletic you are.
The All Star break came at just the right time for the reeling Stars. It gave them a healthy dose of rest and some time to get back to practice. Stars captain Justin Dowling opined after last game that it's hard to get back to winning when there is no time for practice. Think of this as a reset as the Stars look to push up the standings for the remainder of the season.
They'll have to do it without Roope Hintz and Denis Gurianov. The two dynamic forwards appear to be staying in Dallas for the long haul this season.
These two teams have squared off three times this season with the Stars coming away with four points. Griffins winger Chris Terry paces his team in scoring at a point per game clip and remains near the top of the league in that category. Curiously, the Griffins are dead last in the league on the power play. The Stars can also find success on the man advantage, as Grand Rapids is below average on the kill.
The puck drops at 7:00 PM CST.
Stars injury/call up report:
