Texas seemed to have the upper hand early in the third period, but a conga line to the penalty box finally bit them as Iowa won today's day game 4-2 thanks to a tying goal off a power play tally. The Stars scored first and battled through four penalties to earn a 1-0 score after forty minutes. Things went down hill in the third period as Iowa scored four in the frame.

Jason Robertson was the lone goal scorer in the first period. Reunited on a line with Tanner Kero and Nick Caamano after the latter returned from upper body injury last week, they've found chemistry.

Oettinger, who took the loss with 29 saves, got most but not all of the tying goal in the third period, a shot from Kyle Bauman. Joel Kiviranta would go next for Texas, scoring five hole, but that would be all of the scoring for Texas. Kyle Rau stepped up just one minute later and scored on the power play to tie it. Then JT Brown made it Iowa's game with a shot through traffic exactly two minutes later.

The loss breaks Texas's six-game win streak and is their first of the new year. They'll re-rack and hit the ice again in Rockford on Wednesday night.

Injuries, scratches, and notes:
Felhaber, Cuglietta, Scarlett, MacKay (scratch)
