Jason Robertson Scores Twice, but Texas Falls in San Antonio 3-2

The Texas Stars’ struggles at the AT&T Center continued on Friday night as they lost to the San Antonio Rampage 3-2. Rookie winger Jason Robertson notched two goals in the contest to carry the load in the scoring department.

Rampage forward Dakota Joshua scored the game winner with less than four minutes left in the game, his second tally of the season.

It was a goal that Landon Bow would’ve loved to have back. After battling all game, and ultimately finishing with 26 saves on 29 shots, the Stars rock couldn’t get his glove up in time when Joshua fired from the high slot.

The Stars made it a nail-biter in the third period. Trailing by one goal for most of the game, they took advantage of a power play opportunity with just over eight minutes left in regulation. Robertson went top shelf to tie the game and pick up his 17th goal of the season.

The rough start is really what did the Stars in. Nolan Stevens picked up two quick points within the first five minutes of play--first was a power play goal, the second a primary helper on Jordan Nolan’s goal. Both tallies had the Stars chasing the game from the start.

Down two goals in the first period, Robertson cleaned up a loose puck along the goal line with one minute remaining in the frame for his first goal of the game.

For the Stars, it was a familiar script as they’ve now gone 1-3-0-0 in San Antonio this season. The silver lining is that the Central division standings will not likely move tonight as Chicago and Grand Rapids are both trailing in their games as of this writing.
