Tonight's Texas Stars Game Cancelled Following Marlies Staff Pre-Game Medical Emergency

This evening's game between Toronto and Texas has been cancelled following a pre-game medical emergency for Marlies assistant coach Rob Davison. Davison was taken away from the arena in an ambulance and is currently being evaluated at a local hospital.

Following the incident, the Marlies were certainly not in the right headspace to play a hockey game. After two 30-minute delays, the in-arena PA announced the game had been cancelled.

Per league source, the AHL was made aware of the medical incident, and the decision was made to delay the game by 30 minutes. At that time, the Marlies "declined to play" and thus forfeit the match officially. From the AHL's postgame release: "Per AHL Rule 66.1, the Stars have been awarded a 1-0 victory."

As the forfeit occurred prior the start of the game, no stats are awarded for either team. The game will not be rescheduled, and the Texas Stars are working to determine what the course of action will be for ticket holders to the game.

The plan is to play tomorrow's game as scheduled. Our thoughts are with the Marlies and Rob Davison.

Here is the official gamesheet for tonight's game.

Leafs PR made an official statement shortly afterward:
