Texas Flat in Second Road Game Against Colorado, Lose 3-1

The second game in this mid-week set didn't go quite as well as the first for the Texas Stars as they fell to the Colorado Eagles on Wednesday night 3-1. Joel L'Esperance scored the lone goal for Texas in the second period, tying the game before Colorado took over.

Eagles forward Josh Dickinson, Dallas Star Jason Dickinson's younger brother, opened the scoring from an awkward angle with three minutes left in the opening period. Landon Bow got the start in net and was left flailing on the play as his teammates failed to clear the puck from the zone.

L'Esperance tied it up just over five minutes into the second period on a shot from in front of the net and was assisted by Michael Mersch and Riley Tufte on the play. Both teams would eventually finish 0-for-2 on the power play.

Ryan Wagner cut to the net within the first four minutes of the final frame and finished a wrister as his team regained the lead. Colin Campbell, who scored twice against the Stars yesterday, provided the insurance goal near the twelve minute marker.

Recent ATO signing Jerad Rosburg earned another night in the lineup with his two points game yesterday and finished with one penalty and three shots on net. Stars winger Anthony Louis also came back from injury and allowed the Stars to go with a more traditional 12 forward/6 defenseman look.

The loss means that Texas failed to move into fourth place in the Central division over the idle Chicago Wolves. With the current COVID-19 crisis heavily affecting the world of professional sports within the last 24 hours, it remains to be seen whether or not this will be the final game of the season for Texas. I hate to speculate, but it is a real possibility. We will keep you posted.
