Texas Falls Late in Opener in Cleveland

Texas found the equalizer but got no further in the third period, falling 3-1 to the Cleveland Monsters Thursday night in Ohio. Nick Baptiste continued his scoring streak with the game-tying goal in the final frame, extending the streak to seven games (5-5=10).

However, the power play both giveth and taketh away this evening in the Buckeye state. While Baptiste's goal did come on the Texas man-advantage, so too did the eventual game-winning tally for Cleveland. Ben Gleason attempted a move to go inside and coughed up the puck. Tyler Angle finished the play up ice after two deft passes out of the Monsters zone.

The Stars would attempt to tie things again with the empty net for over two minutes. Angle would score again off the assist from Foudy into the empty net on a 2-on-0.

These two teams face off again on Saturday.
