Newcomer forward Jordan Kawaguchi had an excellent opening game and Adam Scheel got his first professional start, but the Stars fell 5-4 off a power play goal from the Eagles with less than two minutes remaining in the game. The loss extends their losing streak to four games.

It was a rough way to go for the Stars, who trailed at the start of the third period by two goals. They outshot the Eagles 19-7 in the final frame to get to even. Goals from Thomas Harley and Adam Mascherin made it happen. The Stars got off the schneid on the power play in the contest as well, breaking an 0/24 skid with Mascherin's game-tying goal.

Notably, Texas shifted the lineup quite a bit, adding Kawaguchi and Scheel in their first games, but also checking in Max Martin and scratching Ryan Shea and Julius Honka. Kawaguchi was named third star of the game with a goal and an assist. Max Martin collected his first point of the season with the assist on Kawaguchi's tally. Nikita Scherbak also scored in the contest.

Scheel's start was certainly a trial by fire as Colorado sent 18 shots his way in the first en route to 37 overall. He was pierced five times in the game on those shots.

These two teams face off again tomorrow in Colorado.
