Goalie Adam Scheel just can't catch a break. With a shutout in his sights and just eight minutes left in the game, Scheel allowed one and then another en route to a 3-1 Texas loss tonight in Iowa. The game seemed to be in hand for the Stars, if tight overall.

The North Dakota product stopped 27 straight shots against him before allowing two on the next four shots.

Texas didn't get Scheel a lot of run support with Ty Dellandrea earning the only Stars goal of the game off the assist from Riley Damiani in the second period. The Stars had a decent number of power play opportunities to open the scoring in the first period or extend it in the second. None would go.

Damiani's assist was the 23rd of his rookie season and 34th point overall in 34 games. Those number put him in the top position among rookies in the AHL. He's got three points on Jack Dugan of the Henderson Silver Knights, who still has three games yet to play.

With 7:15 left in the contest, defenseman Daemon Hunt redirected one past Scheel to tie things and start the unraveling. Five minutes later Nick Swaney would bomb a long one in on Scheel to take the lead that the Iowa Wild would not give up. An empty netter salted things away just a few second later.

These two teams play again on Friday and Saturday to end the season.
