The Dallas Stars recalled Jacob Peterson from the Texas Stars this afternoon. Dallas also assigned Tanner Kero and Blake Comeau to Texas after they both cleared NHL waivers.
Jacob Peterson played in six games for Texas after being assigned to the team on October 27 and was 2-3=5 during that stint. At the beginning of the season in Dallas, Peterson scored just one goal in six games. However, Peterson looked strong during his time with Texas and a callup back to Dallas is no surprise.
Blake Comeau joined the Dallas Stars at the beginning of the 2018-19 season and has logged 189 games with the team. This will be Comeau’s first time joining the Texas Stars and his first time in the AHL since 2009. Comeau played 120 games and registered 84 points (including playoffs) with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers between 2006 and 2009. Having 16 years of NHL experience, Comeau will be the most seasoned player on the Texas roster. With all that has gone on with the Dallas and Texas rosters in the last few days, seeing how Comeau fits into the Texas lineup will be something to keep an eye on.
Tanner Kero returns to the Texas Stars after spending last season and the beginning of this season with Dallas. Kero last played for Texas during the 2019-20 season and during that season he recorded 33 points in 49 games. Kero also has vast AHL experience with the Rockford IceHogs and Utica Comets, playing in 197 regular season games with those two teams. In seven games for Dallas this season, Kero posted no goals, two assists, and an average of 9:29 spent on the ice per game.
With Comeau and Kero on their way to Texas, the team will have 15 forwards on the active roster. After the addition of these two highly-experienced forwards, carefully orchestrating lineups will be a big task for Texas Stars head coach Neil Graham in the days ahead.
