Texas Roster Comes into Focus with Final Dallas Assignments, First Cuts

As the NHL season opener approaches for Dallas this Thursday, the roster in Texas further solidified this weekend with final cuts from the big club.

All told, analysis-wise, this is exactly the roster that we expected to see for the Texas Stars. Despite strong camps from Mavrik Bourque, Logan Stankoven and Lian Bichsel, all three come to Cedar Park to start the year. That trio, along with any of these names below, would make sense as the first callups for the Stars depending on the role needs if injuries strike.

Dallas assigned eight players in the final round of cuts:

  • Oskar Bäck
  • Lian Bichsel
  • Matěj Blümel
  • Mavrik Bourque
  • Riley Damiani
  • Kyle McDonald
  • Remi Poirier
  • Logan Stankoven
Jerad Rosburg and Chase Wheatcroft remain in Dallas on injured reserve. Both will head to Texas once their injuries resolve.

In tandem, Texas announced half a dozen cuts to their training camp as the Steelheads opened camp today.
  • Jack Becker
  • Cody Haiskanen
  • Demetrios Koumontzis
  • Patrick Kudla
  • Ty Pelton-Byce
  • Mark Rassell
Texas is off from on-ice activities today as they do some off-ice team building. The club will do promotional work tomorrow, such as headshots, video shots for the jumbotron, and the like. The evening will bring a season ticket holder meet and greet. Wednesday will be media day.

All this leads up to Friday's home opener against Tucson.
