Coming into the third tied, Texas could not emerge with at least a point to extend their streak as they fell 6-3 in Loveland this evening to the host Colorado Eagles. Kyle McDonald found the net twice, both on the power play in the second period, and Antonio Stranges added his fourth of the year.

After a scoreless first half of the first period, both teams got on the board in the next ten minutes. Peter Holland and Callahan Burke made it 2-0 Colorado. Stranges then stole a puck off Dalton Smith and beat Arvid Holm for the 2-1 score at the break.

In the second, the teams traded scores again. McDonald went first and last in the frame. His first came directly off a faceoff as Mavrik Bourque found the first-year forward charging to the back door. Colorado evened things up with Jack Ahcan getting the feed from Alex Beaucage below the goal line for the 3-2 margin.

McDonald's second came off the feed from Logan Stankoven to just above the hashes. Surrounded by four Eagles, McDonald whipped in his sixth of the year.

The third period, however, was all Colorado. Just as a power play expired, Brad Hunt ripped one through a screen for the 4-3 lead. A turnover directly to the stick of Dalton Smith in the Texas zone ended up in the Stars' net, Ondrej Pavel's first of the year, to make it 5-3. The Eagles would find the empty net late for the 6-3 final.

Texas, still first in the Central, now has some days off on the road before going to face San Diego on Wednesday.
