The American Hockey League announced this morning that Texas' Neil Graham will be the head coach of the Central Division All-Star squad in San Jose on February 5. The honor is his by virtue of the Stars owning the division's best record on December 31st. Last night's win against Manitoba sealed that record. It is the second straight year that Graham has been named as coach.
Texas will surely send their young forwards Mavrik Bourque and Logan Stankoven, as they sit #1 and #2 atop the AHL scoring list. I would make an argument for Derrick Pouliot as well, since he is third in the league in defenseman scoring. However, he will likely be beaten by Matt Donavan of Chicago for a spot.
Also of note: Idaho head coach Everett Sheen was named the coach of the ECHL's Western Conference All-Stars. It is also the second-straight year for him to earn that honor. The ECHL All-Star Game is January 15th in Savannah, Georgia.
