Texas Stars forward Matěj Blümel becomes the third Star to be named AHL Player of the Week after Antonio Stranges and Cameron Hughes were named to the honor earlier this season.

As of March 3, the Stars are currently the only team to have more than two players honored as player of the week this season.

The second-place goal and point scorer in the AHL, the already productive Blümel, had his best four-game stretch offensively of the season with his new line pairings with Justin Hyckowian and Curtis McKenzie.

Blümel found the back of the net three times and captured two assists during Texas’ midweek series versus Grand Rapids. Closing out their longest homestand of the season against Chicago, Blümel tacked on four more assists during the weekend.

Blümel’s dominant nine-point week helped the Stars go 3-1, putting them on top of the Central Division with 21 games remaining in their season.

Texas will play the second-place Milwaukee Admirals Wednesday morning at 10:30 am at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
