Last summer, Cameron Hughes and Kole Lind joined the Dallas Stars on the same day after two Calder Cup Finals berths with Coachella Valley. This year, they've both re-upped with Dallas, and Texas, ahead of free agency with the announcement today that Kole Lind has signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Dallas Stars.
Lind's first season in Texas was, by all accounts, exactly what they needed from him. He potted 52 points in 71 games and added 15 more across 14 playoff games. He was an agitator in the best of ways for the Stars when they needed that sandpaper in their game. He got under the skin of so many teams, and sometimes their broadcasters too, and made them do regrettable things and put Texas on the man advantage. If nothing else, if you're worried about hunting down #17, you aren't thinking about the other four players on the ice.
With Lind's signing, Texas has another veteran forward on lock. With players like Matěj Blümel and Antonio Stranges still pending UFA and RFA, Texas will look to solidify its upfront firepower as free agency starts in the coming week. With younger players jumping in next year, it's always important to nail down the veteran core.
