Defensive Stalwart Michael Karow Re-Ups with Texas

Defenseman Michael Karow has signed another AHL contract with Texas for the 2025-26 season. Karow's previous deal was a two-year contract, but the team is not clarifying at this time if Karow's new deal is one year or two.

Karow joined Texas right out of college on an ATO and, through the following three seasons, went from 6/7 D-man to a solid part of the everyday rotation. Karow played all 14 of Texas' playoff games this postseason, for example, slotting in over players on NHL contracts, albeit with less experience.

Karow is a great example of the sort of player who needs to be on an AHL roster for the team to achieve its twin goals of winning and developing talent. Karow helps with the winning directly and also, as a now-established "veteran" of the league at all of 4 years in, he had help rookies establish the all-important pro habits that now-former head coach Neil Graham always used to preach.

The most electric goal of Karow's pro career, arguably, came during the playoff run this year, a shorthanded exclamation point of a goal in Game 3 against Abbotsford. As we learn the man they call "Ike" is returning for another year, just enjoy this highlight.
