The only RFA who needed to be qualified at the deadline as he had not already agreed to a contract was Antonio Stranges. Today, the Dallas Stars announced he's inked a one-year extension with the team, two-way in nature, after a phenomenal campaign that saw his offensive game grow to its best output yet in his pro career.
Stranges has always wowed folks with his skating, but this year he found a way to put the puck in the net more than ever before and became a top-six mainstay for the Texas side. He was an instant energy boost for the team when he returned from injury in the Milwaukee series. That says a lot for his progress as a player after Neil Graham did not call his name at all in last season's playoffs against Manitoba and Milwaukee.
Stranges finished the year with 43 points in 55 games, a season shortened by an injury suffered against Ontario. He set numerous personal bests, including goals, assists, points, PPGs and GWGs. It's a big prove-it year against for the guy they call "Tony" with this only being a one-year deal and him still being an RFA next summer at its expiration.
