It's the final weekend until June without some sort of professional hockey in North America. Everything gets started next weekend for Dallas with the first edition of the pre-season prospect tournaments in Frisco. Detroit's prospects will come to visit for a pair of games Saturday and Sunday evenings.
The Stars announced a roster of players this week that includes a lot of names you would expect. Of course, on the bench as always will be the Texas Stars coaching staff including the newly-hired head coach, Toby Petersen.
Texas fans will recognize several players who finished their season with the Cedar Park club. Forwards Sean Chisholm, Justin Ertel, Ayrton Martino, Harrison Scott and Artem Shlaine; defensemen Tommy Bergsland, Tristan Bertucci and Trey Taylor; and goalie Ben Kraws all hit the roster.
F Emil Hemming, who was a black ace, is also on the list.
Dallas has a good habit of giving AHL contracted players a chance in this tournament. AHL signee Kaleb Pearson and just shadow-announced signee Aidan Hreschuk are on the roster.
You can expect that Kraws and the German goalie expected to come to North America this year, Arno Tiefensee, will each get a start.
