Looking for Spark, Texas Swaps Arno Tiefensee for Ben Kraws

After two deflating losses to Grand Rapids, Texas made a change to their backup position in net sending Ben Kraws to Idaho and recalling Arno Tiefensee.

The net has actually been a strong suit for the Stars this season, mainly referring to starter Remi Poirier. Kraws, who won the backup job out of camp, has been abysmal for Texas. He's played in four games and taken three decisions, going 0-3-0 with a 4.34 GAA and .840 SV%. The single game he played but didn't take the decision in was the 10-1 game against Grand Rapids where he allowed 7 goals on 22 shots and ran a 9.00 GAA.

Meanwhile in Idaho, even with his uneven first performance of the season (in which he was injured and missed a month of the season thereafter), Arno Tiefensee is the toast of the town. The tall German tender is 6-1-2, collecting points in every game since his return from injury with a 2.64 GAA and .916 SV%. Personally, I give even more credit to those numbers given how chaotic the ECHL can often be on goalies.

Tiefensee has to start a healthy number of these road contests as Texas looks to make a dent in their deficit in the standings.

Elsewhere, Ben Kraws was assigned on Friday and started last night for Idaho, allowing 6 on 26 shots in 40 minutes of work and taking the loss against Rapid City.

Texas opens their longest road trip of the season tonight in Coachella Valley.
