Following a rough home stand and seeking redemption of any kind, the Stars set out for their season-long six-game Pacific road trip with tonight's contest in Coachella Valley kicking things off. Texas skated to a 5-3 final score to earn the full two points.

Harrison Scott potted the opener, a tic-tac-toe play with Curtis McKenzie and Antonio Stranges. Artem Shlaine scored the next on the ailing Texas power play, his fourth goal of the season.

Scott collected the 3-0 tally on a goal that was originally awarded to Tommy Bergsland. The deflection off the point shot robbed Bergsland of what would have been his first career AHL goal. All the same, it gave Scott his fourth of the year.

Less than a minute later, Jack Becker scored his second game-winner of the season with the fourth goal of the night, a shorthanded feed off the pass from Matthew Seminoff. The bottom-six forwards have both had excellent starts to the year despite the Stars' overall woes. For Seminoff, it was his seventh point of the season.

Coachella worked to climb back into the contest with goals from Ben Meyers on the power play, John Hayden and David Goyette. With seconds ticking away, Michael Karow, who finished plus-3 in the game, iced the contest with an empty net goal. It was the new father's first goal of the year.

With two points under the belt, Texas heads to Ontario for the second game of this road trip. It will be interesting to see if goalie Arno Tiefensee makes his AHL debut in the contest. The puck drops at 7 PM CT Sunday.
