Griffins Halt Stars Streak at Seven in 4-2 Final

The Stars began their third-longest road trip of the season with a 4-2 loss at the hands of division-leading Grand Rapids. The loss stalls their seven-game winning streak but that same streak finds them in third place in the division and out of the first-round play-in as the league restarts post All-Star break.

The game was even closer than the 4-2 scoreline might suggest as the two teams battled to a 2-2 tie after the first period and neither broke that tie until the third period found the Griffins on the power play for the 3-2 lead. Dominik Shine, winner of the 2025 Bruce Boudreau Award, potted two in the contest.

Remi Poirier got the start for the Stars, stopping 19 of 22.

Texas got things started on the power play with a goal from Harrison Scott. Trey Taylor dished from the left point to Kole Lind on the right. Lind fired a shot, tipped by Scott in front of goalie Michal Postava, for the 1-0 lead. Grand Rapids scored five minutes later but the tie didn't last long with Luke Krys scoring his fourth of the year. He slammed a hard shot on Postava, missing and generating a hard rebound off the boards. He collected his own rebound and beat the goalie near side.

Shine would tie things up before the period was out, deadlocking the game at two.

Austin Watson would break that tie in the third on the power play. It was a tipped shot through traffic with bodies everywhere. Michael Brandsegg-Nygård had the initial point shot.

Texas will continue their road trip with a matinee rematch against Grand Rapids on Sunday.
