Iowa returned serve from last night, earning a 4-1 win over the visiting Texas Stars to even both clubs' season record to 1-1. Tye Felhaber was the only Texas goal scorer in the contest as the Wild never trailed in the contest. Most of the goals against the Stars were self-inflicted wounds as they had two end up in their net off of failed zone exits that went to the Wild.

Tomas Sholl got his first AHL start and his first game. He stopped 17 of 20 on the night.

In the positive column, there were fewer penalty kills for the Star to contend with as Iowa was only up a man three times in the game. The Stars fanned on five power play opportunities of their own.

Dmitry Sokolov opened the scoring just under five minutes in. Texas failed to get a clear from their own zone, and Sokolov picked up the loose puck and rifled it past Sholl from the high slot. Tye Felhaber evened the score before the end of the frame on a nice effort from Thomas Harley and Colin Markison. Harley got the puck in deep himself and passed to Markison who circled the entire offensive zone and dished to Felhaber for the goal.

Iowa would control the scoreboard the rest of the way, however. Josh Maser scored his first goal off a tip of a point shot in the second. In the third, Gabriel Dumont extended the lead to two on another play where Texas had control heading out of their zone and gave it up.

The Stars would have two late power play opportunities but could make nothing of them, yielding an empty net shorthanded goal as they attempted a 6-on-4 comeback. These two clubs face off again on Monday.
