Texas Spots Cleveland Three But Can't Make the Comeback This Time

Just like Saturday night, the Stars spotted Cleveland three goals in the first period. Unlike Saturday, Texas was unable to pull out the victory, falling 5-2. They did score a pair in the second period as the 12-13-14 line stayed hot, but the Monsters pushed ahead in the final frame and sealed it with an empty net goal with three minutes to go.

Former Star Gavin Bayreuther had quite a game, scoring a career-high four assists. He assisted on each of the first period goals and the empty netter as well.

Riley Damiani picked up where he left off and potted two assists. He now sits fifth in overall scoring and first among rookies in the entire league (6-14=20). Adam Mascherin, who had a goal and an assist, is third in league scoring himself (10-11=21). Nick Baptiste (8-7=15) extended his career-best point streak to nine games with the opening goal for Texas.

Tomas Sholl got the start and halted 31 of 35. Matt Jurusik backed up as Colton Point got a complete night off, just as Sholl did the night before.

Texas now has a mad week ahead of them. Travel Monday will give way to a four games in five nights sequence against Iowa at home. The schedule is so unkind because a COVID protocol postponement put Tuesday's game on the schedule.
