The Texas Stars (24-14-1-0) fell to the Milwaukee Admirals 2-1 at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena. With the loss, the Stars' ten-game away win streak came to an end. It was the longest road win streak in team history and was just three victories shy from the AHL record.

The first period ended with neither team getting on the scoring sheet. It was an evenly played period with both teams rolling four lines and playing a well-disciplined game. There were only two penalties with each team failing to capitalize on the man advantage.

Though not getting a goal, the Stars fourth line of Chase Wheatcroft-Jack Becker-Kyle McDonald applied consistent pressure and was very effective against Milwaukee. The Stars outshot the Admirals 9-7.

The Stars found themselves down 2-0 midway through the second period when Admirals (21-14-3-3) notched a power play goal by former Texas Star Scott Reedy and three minutes later Kyle Marino. Reedys' goal ended the Stars team record 39 straight penalty kills, which lasted for over 13 games.

Down 2-0, the Stars found themselves on the penalty kill again when Emilio Pettersen took a tripping penalty midway through the period. But, with just four seconds left on the penalty, Luke Krys sent a pass to Kole Lind, splitting both Admiral defenders and beating former Stars goalie Matt Murray for his 10th goal of the season and cutting the lead in half 2-1. The period ended with no additional goals, and Texas maintaining a 19-18 shot advantage.

The third began with the away team looking to push play and started swarming the Admiral end of the ice, quickly outshooting the home team by eight shots. But Murray, the former Star netminder was up to the task stopping all shots headed his way. The best scoring chance came when Arttu Hyry hit the left post with 5:20 left in the final period.

Texas head coach Neil Graham called a timeout with 1:47 left in the period and brought on an extra skater. The pressure was not enough and as Murray stood tall and sealed the victory for the home side. The Stars ended the game with a 37-28 shot advantage.

Next up for the Stars: They return home to face the Coachella Valley Firebirds at H-E-B Center in Cedar Park on January 31st at 7 PM.
