The Texas Stars, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the Dallas Stars, announced today that defenseman Etienne Boutet has been assigned to the Idaho Steelheads, the club's ECHL affiliate.

Boutet, 21, was undrafted and signed with Texas as a free agent on August 27, 2013, after completing his fifth season of major junior hockey in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in 2012-13. The St-Nicolas, Quebec native began last year with Rimouski Oceanic before being traded to the Gatineau Olympiques on November 27, 2012 for a second round pick in the 2013 QMJHL Draft. Last season Boutet combined for 44 points (12 goals, 32 assists) and 61 penalty minutes in 64 games. In 289 career QMJHL games for Rouyn-Noranda, Rimouski and Gatineau he had 113 career points (28 goals, 85 assists) and 299 penalty minutes. Boutet helped Rimouski reach the 2012 President's Cup Finals, before being swept in four games by the Saint John Sea Dogs. He attended Dallas' rookie development camp this summer, played for the Stars at the 2013 NHL Prospects Tournament in Traverse City, Michigan and attended Dallas' NHL training camp prior to coming to Cedar Park.

Texas' training camp roster now stands at 24 players, including two goaltenders, eight defensemen and 14 forwards.
